Juicing for healthy living: Lalanne and Greenstar Power Juicers
Many people are turning to freshly made fruit and vegetable juices to naturally supplement their diets, instead of taking artificial vitamin and mineral supplements. There are some major advantages that fresh and raw juices have over pills and potions, these being firstly that the nutrients and other compounds are already in dissolved organic form (straight from living plant cells), and secondly that you know that you are not getting any potentially bad chemicals in the form of preservatives – often added to supplements to improve shelf life.
Juicing is easy, once you have selected a good juicer machine: You need a machine that is able to effectively handle the ingredients you want to juice, doesn’t break the bank, and is easy to use and clean.
Here are a few tips relating to two of the most popular machines on the market – the Jack Lalanne Power juicer, and the Greenstar Green Power Juicers. Both have advantages, and suit slightly different purposes.
The Jack Lalanne Power Juicers are renown for super high speed juicing – they boast a glass of juice in 10 seconds, and are reputed to be very quick and easy to use and clean. They will juice almost anything, and are actually fairly cheap to buy. A big selling point is the 60 day money back guarantee, something you won’t usually find on appliances which, once used by the consumer, can’t really be put back on the shelf and sold again.
The Greenstar Green Power Juicers use a different juicing system, one known as cold press, or masticating action. This basically means juice is extracted slower, but is not degraded in any way by aeration or heating, something which does tend to happen in high speed machines. Although you can expect to pay more for masticating juicers, the benefits are greater versatility – among other things these machines allow you to juice wheat grass. If you can afford the extra cost, these machines are well worth the outlay.
